November 2022
The usual geographical spread of project work has been undertaken in the month with a range of fascinating buildings. In no particular order, these have included the Old Leather Warehouse in Bermondsey High Street, Broadoaks Mansion in West Byfleet, Dover Castle, Weeting Castle in Norfolk and Hill House School in Lymington. The latter is a recognised school for autistic children and the managers needed advice on upgrading the delicately moulded and decorative sash windows.
More time has been spent in Ireland and at Bodnant Gardens in Wales. On-going monitoring at Bodmin Town Hall, Cornwall and an extensive survey of Kames Castle on the Isle of Bute clearly illustrates how H+R in a typical month can be operating in all parts of the United Kingdom.
Projects of particular note included St Andrews and Blackfriars Hall in Norwich where H+R were tasked to investigate the timber roof structures
Also, St Martin’s Church in Colchester where the timber cross beams were assessed for strength to support bespoke new light fittings made by Adam Ferretti
As usual, in November, H+R manned their stand at the Historic House exhibition. Many old friends and colleagues were welcomed by Pip the Rothound
