H+R are pleased to be supporting the refurbishment of the former Surrey County Hall in Kingston working closely with Historic England and the Conservation Officer.  We had previously investigated the spectacular bell tower when the building was still occupied by the Council.  Now the building is to be converted, the client will be drawing on our expertise in steel and concrete within listed structures as well as Heritage Consultancy support.

H+R have investigated Bush House for UCL in relation to condensation risk and started work again on Phase 2 of the conversion of the former London Chest Hospital.

Vaulted structures have been a theme as, following on from our work last month at Camden Winding Vaults, we have been undertaking extensive damp and brickwork related investigations at the Ewer Street vaults and at Kilburn Arches

The most historically interesting job of the month has been the extensive timber investigations at the Guildhall in Kings Lynn which has the only extant theatre where Shakespeare is known to have ‘trod the boards’
