Mark Jackson
Building Pathologist
BSc (Hons)

Background
Mark started his career in the construction industry as a bricklayer and worked for a general building contractor that undertook all aspects of construction ranging from full property renovations, extensions and new builds. This fostered a technical ‘hands on’ appreciation of how buildings are constructed
After his time on site, Mark was employed by a national social housing provider as an apprentice surveyor and completed an NVQ level 3 in Building Surveying from the CSTT (Chartered Surveyors Training Trust). Subsequently he was supported through studies in building surveying (RICS accredited) at the University of Central Lancashire. He graduated in 2016 with a first-class degree with honours
Mark has always had a passion for history and historical buildings, ecclesiastical and rural vernacular buildings in particular, but it was these undergraduate studies that really sparked his passion. His undergraduate dissertation focussed on a review of the Ecclesiastical Exemption in comparison to secular listed building consent regimes
Mark is currently studying towards an MSc in Building Conservation and Adaptation at the University of Central Lancashire
