Background
Simon completed a degree in Architecture form the University of Westminster before obtaining an MSc in Historic Building Conservation from the University of Portsmouth. He is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Certified Historic Building Professional through the RICS conservation accreditation scheme.
Simon has worked for conservation architects and surveying firms, as well as commercial building surveyors, in Hampshire and in central London. Most recently, he was a Senior Building Surveyor for the National Trust.
Areas of Practice
Simon joined H+R SOCOTEC in 2025 and is experienced in undertaking building surveys on a wide range of historic and modern building types. He has a keen interest in holistic, practical approaches to building defects and remedial options, guided by a strong understanding of conservation principles. He also has experience in managing conservation construction projects, design and specification, planned preventative maintenance plans, quinquennial reports and writing listed building consent applications, statements of significance and heritage impact assessments.
