Background
Ben obtained his first-class degree with honours in Civil Engineering at Greenwich University in 2013 and became a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council and a Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2022
During his 20 year career, Ben has worked as a consulting structural engineer on an impressive range of modern and historic building typologies, for various clients, including the Royal Pavilion & Museums Trust, National Trust, Landmark Trust and English Heritage
Ben is very enthusiastic about conserving historic buildings and has a particular interest in the conservation and repair of lime, timber and ironwork. He has attended numerous Building Conservation Masterclasses at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation and enjoys developing his conservation engineering and surveying skills through practice and regularly attending built heritage events and conferences
He continues to work towards becoming a Conservation Accredited Engineer (CARE) and a Full Member of the IHBC
Areas of Practice
Since joining H+R in 2024, Ben has conducted a diverse range of investigations to determine the nature, condition and performance of existing buildings and structural fabric, including at the Governor’s residence in Gibraltar
He is proficient in diagnosing defects and subsequently delivering remediation and management strategies for his clients
