Background
Fiona is a chartered architect and historic buildings consultant with over 30 years’ experience involving heritage buildings. She holds a design degree and a post graduate design diploma in architecture from Kingston University (RIBA Parts I + II), gained her professional practice examination from South Bank University (RIBA Part III), a Master’s degree in Conservation of the Historic Environment from Reading University and a Master’s degree in English Building History from York University. She is a retired chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), a member of the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and a full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC). She holds a level 3 award in energy efficiency for older and traditional buildings from the Environmental Study Centre and is a member of numerous conservation and heritage societies
Fiona has a wide range of experience working within the heritage sector. She has run her own practice and has held positions as a Conservation Officer for both Fenland and Huntingdonshire District Councils. As such, she has acquired a comprehensive working knowledge of the heritage protection and wider planning systems and is skilled in liaising with both conservation officers and planners on behalf of developers and property owners
Areas of Practice
Fiona is proficient in AutoCAD and is also skilled in building photography. She holds a particular interest for twentieth century architecture, specifically regarding the architecture of dictator regimes; ‘how’ these mean and how they might have influenced both Brutalism and later Neo-Classicism
