January 2023
A new year has started with a surge of interest in H+R’s services with the last quarter being one of the best on record in relation to enquiries received and commissions undertaken
Buildings of the Queen Anne and early Georgian period have been notable in the month with significant properties in the Richmond-Upon-Thames area repeatedly coming to the fore including the magnificent Richmond Golf Club which as Studbrook House was designed in 1725 by James Gibbs who was also the architect of St Martin-in-the-Fields, another significant H+R project
Contemporary buildings have included the very large 1980s Peterborough Court building in Fleet Street where H+R’s specialist teams have been investigating cladding and curtain wall systems as well as glazing typology and roof coverings so as to inform its planned refurbishment. H+R have also deepened their involvement on provision of expert witness services on numerous apartment blocks and commercial buildings which are malfunctioning or prone to poor execution of design and construction
It has been particularly gratifying during the month to work on some of the UK’s greatest buildings including Broughton Castle, Mottisfont, Lancaster Castle, and Burghley House
Governmental and local authority work has commenced at The Treasury in Whitehall, The William Salt Library in Stafford and Northwich Library. West London projects include Rutland Gate, London Business School, Portland Place, Lancaster Gate and Lower Sloane Street
Finally, it is good to see the re-opening of the Marianne North Gallery at Kew Gardens 13 years after H+R undertook the initial condition surveys
