The Beast from the East brought some challenges to the South Office, much derided by colleagues in the North-West and North-East Offices. Nonetheless good photo opportunities were gained with sparkling snow and blue skies on projects in Cambridge and Blenheim
Work in Whitehall has gathered pace and non-disclosure agreements were signed on a variety of projects. Extensive surveys at Great Scotland Yard were completed
In Scotland, the major project in the month was a comprehensive condition survey of the external envelope of the Apple HQ in Glasgow. This involved five H+R surveyors on site for a week
Work has finally begun on the famed ‘In & Out’ Club buildings in Piccadilly. The core structure was once Palmerston’s House and is the sole survivor of the great London mansions that once fronted Green Park
In Mayfair generally, two very significant projects have commenced for a private members club in Grafton Street and a large residential development in South Audley Street. H+R have been appointed for everything from window condition investigations to Wufi calculations in support of the Project Teams
A very interesting commission rounded off the month to assess building performance in a newly constructed wedding venue structure comprising of rammed earth walls. Condensation risk management was a key service
Finally, H+R were pleased to be appointed by the National Trust at Mottisfont
The months ahead promise to be exceptionally busy with a very exciting order book making demands on H+R’s reputation for ‘can-do’ flexibility
