October 2025

The Autumnal colours at Netley House, our principal office, have been superb during the month. Situated at the foot of the North Downs overlooking the Tillingbourne Valley, the landscape is heavily wooded with clear views across the Surrey Hills
There have been some fascinating projects to be involved with including the old priory buildings at RAF Welford and the 1880s Rothschild Mansion at RAF Halton. With work at other notable Rothschild origin houses of the period at Waddesdon and Mentmore over the years, we have almost achieved a clean sweep
The most demanding project of the month has been at a significantly fire damaged private members club boutique hotel in Mayfair. H+R first surveyed the old fire station building back in 2005 prior to its conversion. H+R’s extensive experience in the monitoring and management of the drying down process in fire damaged historic buildings is being extensively used
More investigative work at St George’s Guildhall in King’s Lynn and our forthcoming work at Middle Temple Hall links the floorboards that Shakespeare trod at the former, and the hammer beam roof he acted under at the latter. If only timber could talk!
